WinRoute - Quick Configuration Guide


Follow these instructions to connect your network to Internet!

1. Install WinRoute on the right computer!

Install WinRoute on computer through which you will connect the Internet! The computer runs Windows NT 4 or later and has the modem, ISDN adapter or router attached. You must install RAS on it.

2. Setup correctly TCP/IP within your network!

  • Use correct addresses for internal IP addressing! There are ranges of IP addresses you could use for internal addressing, e.g. 192.168.x.x.

  • On workstations set IP address of gateway to IP address of computer where WinRoute is running! (Go to TCP/IP properties of network settings of each workstation to do this). Do NOT proceed this setting at computer where WinRoute is running!

  • Set DNS of workstations to DNS of your ISP! (Go to TCP/IP properties of network settings of each workstation to do this).

    3. Connect your network to the Internet!

    Run WinRoute, go to Menu Commands and choose dial. After establishing a connection all of your computers should have the access to the internet. In not, check your settings.
     

    Sample of Local Area Network Internet Connection:

    TCP/IP settings:
    PC IP address Mask Gateway DNS

    WinRoute Settings:
      NAT is set ON in RAS-line0 properties
